What is a student visa and who needs it?
The student visa is an official document that allows citizens from outside the European Union to legally reside in Spain while studying. If you want to take a course at IELE with a duration of more than 90 days and you do not have European nationality or residence in the EU, you will probably need to apply for this visa before traveling.
The need for a visa depends on your country of origin and the length of your stay. In this section you will find an indicative list of countries and general conditions, but we always recommend checking with the nearest Spanish consulate or embassy for up-to-date information.
IELE is authorized to issue the necessary documentation that will be requested in the visa process (such as a letter of acceptance, proof of enrolment and receipt of payment for the course).

Can I apply for the visa before paying for the course?
No. In order for us to issue the official documents, it is necessary to have formalized the registration and paid for the course (or the corresponding amount as the case may be).
How far in advance should I start the process?
We recommend that you start the process at least 8 weeks before the start of the course, as response times vary by country.
